Pre-Production: Synopsis
Control Synopsis
EMILY ATKINSON, a pristine young woman arrives home to her
perfected house, where everything is just how she wants it. Expecting to be
greeted by her boyfriend Dan, she enters the kitchen too instead be met by
STEPHANIE GRAY, a beautifully attractive blonde woman standing by a
romantically prepared dinner table. Emily confronts her while Dan is none the
wiser in the shower. DANIEL BENNET, a tall, handsome and rugged man steps into
the kitchen to find Emily alone at the counter. Emily expresses her love for
Dan by kissing him and guides him to the bedroom where the two make love.
The next morning after continuing with her normal day,
Emily heads to a beautifully, picturesque landscape hillside to take some
photographs, during which she can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the
location before heading back home.
Upon arriving home Emily barely acknowledges Dan. Blissfully
unaware of Dan’s irritation for her she continues to fail to engage with him.
Despite Dan’s best efforts. Dan then finally confronts her on events the night
before. The tension in the room grows as the elephant in the room becomes
increasingly obvious. This reaches boiling point as Dan criticises Emily’s inability
to deal with the situation, which concludes with Dan revealing he is leaving,
which puts a another large crack in Emily’s perfect world.
Dan is set to leave, bag packed, Emily in an act of
desperation for him to stay, reveals to Dan that Steph is dead. Dan rushes out
to the back door to find her, as Emily breaks down for what she has done.
Suddenly, in the midst of all this there is a loud knock at
the door, Emily is quick to answer. Standing in the doorway is Steph. Emily watches
Steph as if she is a ghost before slamming the door and rushing out to the shed.
She bursts into the cold, dark shed and there, among the clutter of her life,
is Dan, laying lifeless.
Returning back to the moment Emily confronts Steph, Emily
forces her to leave. At this moment Dan enters the room and is met with Emily’s
furious rage as he beats on his chest and head. She doesn’t allow him to
explain and as she strikes hits him one of the shots dazes him, causing to fall
and crack his head on a nearby table. Killing him instantly.
Emily, beside herself with grief cradles his head in her
arms as she tries to speak to him. Seeing he is gone she hauls his body to the
shed. She dumps him in the middle of the floor among memories of a troubled
and forgotten past. She lets out one last emotional scream as she purges herself
of all emotional horror. She then begins compose herself, the deathly silence
is only broken by her breathing slowly calming. Before long she is completely calm
and now unphased. She walks back indoors to continue on with her normal life,
as though nothing happened.
As she stands at the counter she is absent within her own
body. The psychological trauma is too much for her as her mind chooses to shut
down. She seems contempt with living the rest of her life with Dan and the
things she’s done safely locked away in the shed at the bottom of the garden. As
she accepts this, Dan walks in the room.
