Studio Production: Final Shot List & Script with Floor Plan
During rehearsals I had numerous shot lists, drafts of scripts, and floor plans. As there were changes in rehearsals these drafts would change often when experimenting with camera movements, angles, talent and contestant positioning, lighting and prop positioning.
Eventually however, before the live date I had a final draft of my script and shot list, and also a final draft of my floor plan which was explained and ran through, thoroughly to everyone.
Final Shot List & Script
My Shot list and Script was essentially my own personal bible for the show, it provided everything i needed to know on paper. This included cues for audience, music, presenter, graphics, VT's and Stings. It provided the floor manager (Adele), everything she needed; Camera operators everything they needed and an on paper reference for myself in case I forgot anything at any time.
I set up a colour scheme that helped me know exactly what was needed during the script with just a quick glance at the script. This would help me when directing as I couldn't look at the script too long otherwise we would sit on a shot or miss a cut. The colour coordination went like this:
Ques - Green
Standby Call - Orange
Roll VT/Sting - Red
Music In/Out - Blue
Graphics - Highlighted
Floor Plan
Like the shot list and script, there were many changes to the floor plan. These changes came around through rehearsals and changes in the script. Also changes in lighting and technical issues.
Below are the final floor plans for the show, which gives an idea into the camera movements, contestant movements, talent movements and the general set up into how to shoot each person on set.
