Pre Production: Location/Setting

Style

Emily and Dan's home is a rural located contemporary home in which they share. While small it is also spacious and within the story, it's unique modern style acts as a personality as itself. The home is a character and reflection of Emily's desires and taste. A symbol of her controlled life.

Location Images

Home: Exterior

The exterior of the house has a long wide garden, of which a shed sits at the bottom. This fits within our script and further provides the rural aesthetic and feel to the film allowing the home to appear rural.

Driveway + Garage: Exterior

The gravel drive fits to the description of the script allowing for the rustling noise of the car pulling up to be achieved within the film. The grand entrance to the home is achievable now due to the gates and aesthetic of the entrance.

Shed: Exterior

The contemporary shed at the bottom of the garden matches with the aesthetic of the home. The stylistic and interesting design of the sheds make them more visually appealing for filming. They also fit within the script due to their location and their function within the story.

Living Room + Kitchen: Interior

The Living room and Kitchen is a modern blank canvas. The studio like lighting will enable us to really change the mood and feel of the room depending on the scene. The simplicity of it speaks volumes allowing us to bring our own personal touches along with a stylish base which will add to the character of the rooms.

Bedroom: Interior

The bedroom, like the living room and kitchen acts as a contemporary blank canvas. The room for personalizing and continuing to make the room like a character allows it to become a further space for character within the home. As their bedroom, it must be reflective of their relationship as it becomes a symbolism.

Shower: Interior

The simplistic shower is spacious and perfect for filming as it enables us more movement and possibilities when filming. The open planned style continued allows for less clutter and more space.

Supermarket: Interior

The supermarket look is one that I am very particular on. Key characteristics I am looking for are tall shelves acting as framing, with the camera positioned centre of the aisle. This symmetrical aisle provides for an interesting look which can be achieved well within these locations.

Car: Interior

The car interior provides a close yet intimate perspective of Emily on her journey. The tightness of the space within the car allows the shots to become invasive as we the audience invade her private space and get past the wall she has built around herself to reveal her true self. All done within the tight location of the car's interior.
