Pre-Production: Feedback from Presentation
After giving our presentation we were fortunate to be given a green light on our project to proceed with development. Overall, the presentation was a success but more so because it flagged areas for concern when going forward, also areas for development.
These areas for development and to consider are:
- Be clearer on the division of labour: Who is doing what within our work load between me and harry. Develop our learning agreement to distinguish who is doing what.
- Go back to pre-writing and out what the story is actually about. I need to focus less on the plot and more about the characters and what the story is about. Once the characters are in place the story will come along with the plot.
- Once the story and eventually the plot is in place, we need to ask ourselves, What kind of film we want to make? Where I want to challenge myself? Is it a one location heavy dialogue piece?
With regards to the actual story and characters there are also further areas for deeper consideration and development. By addressing these it will help to plug gaps within the narrative and help the story come together more and more allowing for different developments within the story, then in turn the plot, aiding me with writing. The areas are as follows:
- Deteriorating Relationship within wife and husband after death?
- Names of characters
- How can a person die and nobody notice?
- Realistic death that can be filmed and achievable
- Setting for the story? Rural or Built up?
- Murder or manslaughter?
- Other characters? Mother? Neighbor?
- Married? or long relationship?
Now I can work on these ideas and push further on with developing characters and the story.
