Pre-Production: Team for Major Project

When choosing a team I had to take into consideration the goals for others within my course as working in the final year requires those taking part in projects to be totally invested and enjoy whatever we are going to do.

That taken into mind i discussed with the group and found a group that all memebers are used to working with each other and each bring a talent to the project in which we can be able to create the best film possible.

Harry and I will be working together from the beginning of the year both working through the Pre-Production and then the major project portion of the year. After working together effectively in the past we were both keen to work on a project that we will create, develop and then film from start to finish.

Both being passionate with the drama genre, we are looking at a Psychological Drama of 20 mins length, with a simple yet interesting storyline in which we are confident we can bring our abilities into working together to create a visually enticing and engaging story.

I feel that in Harry's past work, and by working with him, has a great knowledge of camera equipment, and the technical side of filming which is not my forte. We have worked well in the past as i focus on the creative side of filming through directing, shot listing and scripting. By him working as DOP i am confident he will produce the best shots possible in great quality. I have found that having him as a DOP allows me to fully focus on my aspects without worrying what is going on technically.

Below is an example of his effective work as DOP:

Wez will be working for the first part of the year on his own Pre-Production project. However once we begin filming he will be our Producer. Obviously, throughout the Pre-Production phase he will be kept in the loop and updated each week to make sure he knows exactly what's happening and what will be going on.

I am very confident in Wez's ability as a Producer due to his prior experience working with him as this role. He was working in this role when we were working on 'Game-Over' and our Studio Production 'Teach em a Lesson'.

He is a very effective producer and having previous experience working with him is key as we know exactly how we work and how to create the best possible film.

Megan will, like Wez be joining our production in the second half of the year as the editor. She will also be kept in the loop each week like Wez.

Working with Megan before and seeing her previous work has shown that she is a fantastic editor with real skill. Below are a few of her previous projects:

I find that her style of editing sets the mood and I feel that will be extremely important when creating a psychological drama short film. This is seen done very well in 'Exhale' and exactly what we are looking for. Her skills at establishing mood and the timing of her edits makes the choice of having her as our editor a very easy one.

I will be working as Director/Writer. Working in previous projects I found that directing was the one i enjoyed and felt most comfortable doing. Within the Directions unit i really understood that this role was right for me and allowed me to channel my research and focus into a career i wanted to pursue.

Next myself and Harry will be coming up with ideas and updating Wez and Megan when needed. We will be aiming for at least three solid ideas that we can pitch to the group and then get feedback. Then once receiving feedback we can decide on what we feel will be the strongest and most favored to take forward.
