Professional Practice: Critical Reflection
Overall I felt that this unit benefited me, it taught me that when working freelance connections are key, professionalism is expected and the client is always right and is the main concern.
Problems
The main problem we faced was during the first day of filming in which the weather was particularly bad. Heavy rain stopped us getting the clear shots we had hoped for and pushed us indoors for the remainder of the filming. This was not so much an issue but some of the footage we got outside, when we went back to the edit, was too poor to use, issues such of water on the lens stopped those shots from making the final edit.
Even with this however we managed to get the shots we missed on the second day of filming. Essentially the order of filming just got pushed around among the schedule.
What I learnt
The whole experience really helped me with my choices into my future career. It actually made me consider the possibilities of going freelance once i leave university and continually expanding my portfolio through promotional videos and short films. All the while picking up contacts as I go.
This whole process taught me to be professional and gave me valuable experience working on my own within the freelance world. I also learnt that to be successful working freelance and when creating a film for someone is that the client is always right and what they want is what you must provide. However it is about giving them what they want in a way that only you can provide
