Studio Prodcution: Studio Workshop
Another workshop with Del Brown allowed me to get a further insight into improving my skills as a director. For the first time we managed to go through the entirety of the show to get an idea for our crew to see the entire show and for myself to decide how i am going to shoot it.
Things I learnt:
- Do not over complicate the shooting process, get cameras set and ready for shooting in good locations with good angles which can be directed otherwise if need be.
- Work the camera ops harder to give myself better shots to cut too.
- Planning is key, learn the script to the point where i can picture each shot and angle at the right time. On the script have a shot list next to dialogue to know exactly when and where to cut and to which camera.
- Block each segment of the show, so when action moves to other areas of the set then re-position cameras accordingly.
- Be more vocal within the gallery and remember that i am speaking to everyone, not just those in the gallery.
What to do next:
- Keep going over the script and visualize shooting
- Create floor plans for each segment of show
- Research into more live shows and their shooting method
