Fiction Adaptation: Casting Issues
So far the production of my upcoming film has been stalled as up until now casting for actors has been very difficult for a number of reasons;
- Dealing with a specific type of actors with little flexibility
- Low budget meaning actors that I do find can't afford to play the role without a wage due to time of year
- Actors dropping out which causes delays on shooting dates
- Difficulties in finding actors suitable for role
I had put out casting calls in a variety of different ways, I went online through castingcallpro.com and starnow.com, I approached suggested actors directly and sought out students inside our uni and even other universities but unfortunately this did not work out.

My initial idea of sticking to the poem as an actual guideline for the film is therefore a lot more difficult than I originally imagined. The problems with casting has had a knock on effect on costume, location and shooting dates which has lead me to make a tough decision.
I believe that if i continue to try to make this film work I will not leave myself enough time to create something that truly represents my efforts and imagination. Therefore i have decided to change the idea for my film to be easier to achieve, possible to make into a solid film and be able to reach the deadline. This was a tough decision but I feel that if i continue with my initial idea there is a strong possibility that I will not be finished in time.
I understand that by starting all over again this leaves me with even less time, however I am confident I can achieve something with this new idea.
My new idea allows for easier location access, a broader casting option and even more room for personal creativity.
