Digital News Production: Live at Game
About the Location
For our live piece of the project we plan on filming the midnight launch of Assassins Creed: Syndicate at the video game store Game, in Bluewater shopping centre. This location is perfect as it is fairly local for us but also indoors with lighting so we do not have to worry about waiting outside in cold weather and poor lighting which would have caused more issues than needed. We can control the environment at Bluewater and not have to worry about any weather related inconveniences.
About the Event
The event is the midnight launch of the new Assassins Creed game. This is perfect as the previous installment was so buggy that it would be interesting to see what the turnout will be like for the next game. Also we can get the views of the fans in line where the previous game will hopefully be fresh in their mind when buying the new version. As the launch will be at midnight those in the queue will be die hard fans, they will care greatly about this franchise and have hopefully plenty to say about their beloved game.
Contact
I'm in contact at this present time with the store's general manager Richard. He seems very keen for us to film the event as we have worked out a deal where the footage shot at game will be provided to him for their use as well as our own.
The Plan
The plan is for our presenter Candice to provide her intro from the back of the queue then work her way along the queue asking questions of the fans to get their thoughts and predictions. Then once at the front of the queue, see the fans rush into the store to pick up their copy. Then Candice to give her tag line and finish. Our plan is to be quick, concise and informative for the time we are given.
Back up
We also have a few back up plans, where in the event of nobody showing up to the launch, to speak to the managers and staff and ask what was it like on last release and question them as to why they think the launch simply had less takers. Another is if nobody in the queue wants to be filmed then once again interview staff and actually report saying that nobody will talk to us as an indicator of their worries about the game.
