Digital News Production: Channel Trailer

As a part of our project we were required to make a trailer for our YouTube channel. For this we have to do a little research into what makes a good channel trailer.

Research

- Researching successful YouTube channels such as; PewDiePie, Achievement Hunter, Inside Gaming and Funhaus

- Viewing the trailers they produce

- Noting the style of trailer

- What makes their videos so successful

Conclusion of Research

- The trailers are short and sweet

- The majority show footage from their channel

- Most are funny and provide a snip-it of their content

- Edited well with best moments, montage styled

- Trailer features their humour/style which gives an idea of what you can expect as a viewer

- Videos are sum up the channel in a short, easy to understand video.

Our Result

- With our time limit being 30 seconds we focused on insuring a viewer will know exactly what our channel does and what it is about

- We wanted to be as clear as possible but still visually interesting

- Our choice to keep the video short and sweet was centered around our brief

- The choice of music was important as we wanted something that sounds at home within a gaming backing track

In conclusion our trailer was what we wanted out of the time we had to work with. Short, sweet, informative and visually enticing, with a brief look into what our channel is about and the content we provide.
