Digital News Production: After Effects

We recently took part in a Workshop with Fergus, focusing specifically on the use of the Adobe program, After Effects. We ran over the basics and helped us to get to grips with what can be quite an intimidating piece of software for new users.

As we are using the green screen within our project we needed to attend this workshop, as we wanted to know as much as possible when it came to the post production to make the project look as professional as possible.

We learnt about the software's capabilities what it can do and how it can make our work look just that little bit better. Our main focus was with the green screen editing. Looking at how to use different backgrounds and fitting them into shot with  variety of different tools. This gave us an opportunity to think about what our background will be like and what kind of style we thought was best for the overall anesthetics of the studio pieces.

The use of green-screen within our project came about from our research on other game channels on YouTube and national news channels such as the BBC.

Both use green-screen effectively and allows for a professional look to the show. By using the green-screen and after effects we can make our production look:
- More professional
- Open to change
- Stylistic

It also helps as a viable asset to our learning experience.

The workshop was hugely beneficial to us as we now have the basic knowledge and know how to work the software to better our project and add crisp and clean touches to the almost finished project.
