Commission: GoPro4 Practice Filming

Alex and I have decided that on of the best ways we can get good looking up close and personal footage of rugby training and hits is through the use of Go Pros. Alex and I both have access to Go Pros outside of the university stock as we both own one each so we are lucky to have unlimited personal access to the cameras.

We essentially went out and threw a ball around to see what kind of shots came out and after reviewing the footage I couldn't be more happy with the results. We securely strapped Go Pros to my chest and head and even on to the ball to essentially trial and error each shot and see what we preferred.

We used the Go Pro 4 Hero Black and found it incredibly easy to work with and durable and unlike any camera I have personally used before. The only issue is audio which I have muted as the muffled noise of shirts and slight knocks causes loud and sudden spikes which we hope to combat with clip mics and other audio equipment.

Also an App on my iPhone allows me to connect to the Go Pro and receive a live feed as to what the Go Pro is seeing which is incredibly helpful and allows Alex and myself to take a backward step in filming to create a natural and realistic view of what it is like on the field.

All in all I am very impressed with the Go Pros, versatility, durability and quality which means it will be a perfect camera to use for our documentary. Here is what we go from the session.
