Studio Production: Feedback
After Easter break, our entire production team came together to view the program in its entirety as if watching at home. After watching overall we were very happy with how the production came out and were very relieved to see how smoothly the show ran. However, there were a few small issues that we noticed in the edit.
Name Strap (Tabitha)
One of the small issues was cueing in the name strap for the character 'Tabitha'. When reviewing the show we saw that the name strap graphic is late and is up on the screen when the character's back is turned which looks a little awkward and not right. It should have been called earlier or not at all to avoid it being forced. If i could do it again I would have called it earlier but it does however emphasis the fact that the show is live so the small mistake is itself an indicator to the live feel of the show. Rehearsals before we had issues with this as at the opening of the show there is so many cues to be given in such a short time that we tried to delay the name strap to when the character Tabitha comes back to centre stage but unfortunately it did not play out this way. This i could take as a small mistake but a learning curve.
Camera Swivel
Another small issue was after the collecting objects round we, (the viewer) are sitting on a handheld shot that once 'And Stop!' is called, swivels around as it goes back to its tripod position. Unaware to the camera operator due to the lack of live lights on the camera, the camera was live at the time. I managed to call for it to be cut off of it quickly but, it is obviously visible. Once again this does give the impression of a live show and it often seen, even at a professional level. It is frustrating that it happened but it, is something that can and has happened. While this is not the end of the world, as it contributes to the feel of the show being live, it could have been avoided with the use of live light indicators, which were unfortunately unavailable to us.
Credits
Another slight issue was when cutting to the credits at the end. The credits flash before cutting to them completely. A slight issue but one that we are going to change within our edit. Our only noticeable change to the final edit, as unlike the other errors, it is unfortunately detrimental to the rest of the show, while minor it would be better without it so we will be removing it from the final edit. Now the final version will not flash the credits it will now just go straight to them.
Conclusion
In conclusion the small errors that we have either are being removed or in some way contribute to that we were trying to achieve. We as a production team are very happy with the way in which the show went.
