Studio Production: Day of the Live
On the day of the live we had two rehearsals as final practices to get into the zone and get any last bad habits eradicated before getting ready and going live. The first rehearsal of the day was the best rehearsal we had so far which set high standards from the off. We had one or two small things that went wrong but even with those small errors we were confident with how things were looking at the beginning of the day. After this our second of the day and final rehearsal, proved to top the last with very little if no errors throughout the rehearsal which set a further higher benchmark. We were confident going into our live, as we could be confident because we had performed the show many times before with less and less errors, meaning that we just had to do the last live show with the same level or improvement whilst maintaining confidence.
Getting Ready to Go Live
I tried to keep myself as busy as possible making sure that everyone was happy and each person was confident and overall try to keep everyone calm and as least stressed as possible.
I made it my main priority to keep in touch, every now and then, with the talent and contestants. I felt it was very important to keep them happy and excited rather than in the dark and nervous. Naturally everyone prior to going live was slightly nervous, but this was good as it meant everyone was ready. I wanted everyone to be ready not overcome with nerves, which credit to everyone they performed exceptionally.
I myself wanted to make sure I did not become overcome by nerves, which is why I kept myself busy and made sure everyone else was okay, before focusing on the task at hand and finalizing everything before TX time.
Once the warm up act had begun and contestants and talent were ready after make up, the audience were in and everything else was set, we made sure that absolutely ready to go in all roles half an hour before the time of the live. We made sure that come the time of the live we were 100% ready with no faults, cameras were set, audio was ready, VTs were in order and we were ready to go.
The Live
The live shoot went very well in the end. As a team we were very happy with the way we pulled together and helped one another throughout the duration of the show and communicated well. Each and every person within the show did a fantastic job. Other than a few small mishaps, we were very very happy with how the show went. The audience were brilliant, very interactive, which was exactly what wanted and the contestants were very good. Our Talent were totally the right choice and couldn't have been better on the day. They brought the show to life made it seem so professional.
This show couldn't have been done if it wasn't for the help of Del Brown, our professional advisor, and all of the staff at the studios and our own lecturers and technicians within our TV Production course, and it goes without saying the fantastic team of set builders within the CATF team.
Soon however we would have the feedback session with Del and see how it all looked as if sitting at home, which would be very insightful and interesting.
