New Unit! Commission: Documentary
With our Directions Unit done we are straight back into work on a, once again, brand new unit exploring the making of Documentaries and with time within pairs. While we were given the brief there was one topic that instantly took my fancy and I knew would work.
'Informing young Rugby players about the dangers of Concussion'
While its not the rhyming of titles I think this current affairs issue within Sport generally will be perfect and will draw different views from old and new players on it's importance. It also ties in the idea of male bravado and masculinity.
I am lucky to be paired with Alex Barker. I have worked on one of his shoots before and found that he is really switched on and focused with his work. We also share a love for rugby and as player and ex player we have first hand knowledge of how dangerous but fun it can be.
With regards to sources we have a huge amount of contacts, some of which are as listed:
- My old school Sutton Valence, which takes pride of its sport.
- Sevenoaks RFC, Director of Rugby Roger McKerlie
- 1 of 3 Professional Sports Physios
- Access to Rugby Pitches
- Someone with first hand experience of concussion
After being given the go ahead by our current Unit Leader Helen Curston, we believe that this topic can be perfect for the topic we have been given as it falls under a 'Teen Spirit', Health Documentary.
